The right time to plan a patio (it’s earlier than you think)

Most people call about a patio in May, hoping to be sitting on it by June. The truth is that the projects that turn out best are the ones planned over the winter, booked in early spring, and built before the summer rush.

Why earlier is better

A patio is not just the stone you see. Underneath it is excavation, a compacted base and proper drainage — the part nobody photographs, and the only reason a patio still looks right twenty years later. That groundwork takes time to do properly, and the crews who do it properly get booked up fast once the season starts.

Planning ahead also means you get a real design conversation instead of a rushed one: how the space will be used, where the sun falls, how water moves across the yard, and which materials suit the house.

A rough timeline

  • Winter: talk it through, walk the space, settle on a layout and materials.
  • Early spring: book the work and lock in a start date.
  • Spring/early summer: we build it — and you get the whole season to enjoy it.

If a patio is on your list for this year, the best time to start the conversation is now. Ask us for a free estimate and we’ll come and look at the space.
